How was your experience?
I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I hadn't heard of Mr. Sparks before attending his show. Now he's one of my favorite comedians - after only one performance! He has a brand of intelligent humor that reminds me of some of my other favorites (Carlin, Rock, and pre-9/11 Miller). He crucifies the notion of "normalcy" and revels in pushing the buttons of the audience. If he takes the material I heard in San Francisco to the center of the country, I suggest he hire a squadron of bodyguards to protect him from what will undoubtedly be a furious mob ready to attack his redneck-baiting humor. His shtick isn't limited to politically-charged humor, though; he does it all. Even local humor, i.e., complaining about the countdown crosswalks on SF streets and likening the stressful experience of using them to a Die Hard movie. I highly recommend seeing him if you have the chance.
