How was your experience?
This play takes place in The Children's Theater in the Galeria Mall. I had never attended a production put on by this group and didn't know what to expect. What I got was really worth the effort. The play is about a "Jersey" housewife who has limited accomplishments and somewhat limited abilities but who feels that she can be more. After a break-up with her husband, she returns to school where she finds a supportive teacher-mentor. She also has a best friend who wants to help her succeed. In the end, she falls in love with her best friend and you are left with the feeling that she is going to be alright. The acting in this play was a definite cut above. The lead, Valentina was superbly nuanced; a real professional. She was surrounded by actors who were similarly talented. Julie's two daughters were played by two young women who were a part of the Children's Theater and did a great job. If this is the caliber of the programs put on by Katumba Productions, I hope they have a long run. If you are looking for something different and want to support the arts, here is a good place to put that support.
