How was your experience?
Zhao is an engrossing story magnificently staged with a confident and distinctive cast. Each actor made their role, big or small, stand out, which is difficult to do with a large ensemble. Although there is much exposition told verbally, the play does not bog down. Kudos to Director Cary Perloff for bringing all the elements together so well. The lighting, costumes, and music blended wonderfully to create a magical production. It is rare to see a classical Chinese play and even rarer to see one done with modern sensibilities. Go see it now.
