Side or Rear Orchestra
How was your experience?
This is the first event my guest and I attended at the Palace of Fine Arts Theater we didn't enjoy. What a disappointment. Unfortunately, we were unaware that the cast were comprised of unpaid amateurs many of whom had little to no talent. That wasn't something we were expecting. Fortunately, there were a handful of singers who obviously had been trained but the majority of the rest of the cast should not have been in this production. How this producer could put a show on like this is unbelievable. We even understand the cast had to purchase some of their own wardrobe. In any event, if it wasn't for the fact that much of this thing turned into a comedy performance, the entire evening would have been a big loss. Between questionable singers, bad costumes, lousy choreography, performers bumping into one another--one performer even slipping in his platform shoes--and rotten visual effects, we were beside ourselves watching this mess. Fortunately for us, we ended up laughing all through this turkey it was so awful. We couldn't believe what we were seeing. We were not alone. Oh and to top it all off, there was even canned laughter being transmitted over the sound system. Who does that at a live performance? Needless to say, my guest and I both agreed we were lucky we didn't pay full price for this show, if you can even call it a show. It actually was more like the old "Amateur Hour" shows from days gone by. Oh well. Win some, lose some.
