Wednesday December 17, 2008 / 7:30pmKirov Ballet: The Nutcracker
How was your experience?
This was a superbly danced beautifully staged rendition of the classic ballet. However, I now realize why this ballet has been reworked so often, it really is stayed, formal and a bit of a bore. The third act is the best, most familiar music and dances. This story line is a bit different than what most of us are used to, no flowers in waltz of the flowers, no sugar plum fairy. Our seats were dead center but 3 rows from the back at the Dorothy Chandler, which is really far back. As the house was not full we were able to move up at intermission.
