Metropolis is an awesome theater. There is no bad seat. Great restaurants everywhere. The free parking garage around the corner can get crowded, especially if there are other events happening in the area. Give yourself a few extra minutes to get a parking space.
The garage was conveniently located adjacent to the theater.

There are many good restaurants within walking distance of the theater and a good Mexican restaurant in the same building. Plus a neat little piano bar in the basement that's like stepping into the past where Billy Joel may have written Piano Man.

Palm Court in Arlington Heights is a good restaurant to have dinner before the show. We thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, food and service!

I didn't check out the prices but there is a nice restaurant before you get to the theater door. We ate before we got there. As you continue to the theater there's a small bar and they have wine, and water ($3) just before you enter the theater area. It's a nice place. Plenty of restrooms. I wouldn't say it's fancy, but I wouldn't go there too dressed down.

Make sure you find the correct spot. Not all spaces are free. Signage in the parking garage as you are driving isn't not that good (signs are very small...), but they do have signs in the spaces so be sure to read that before walking away so you don't get ticketed.
