Metropolis is an awesome theater. There is no bad seat. Great restaurants everywhere. The free parking garage around the corner can get crowded, especially if there are other events happening in the area. Give yourself a few extra minutes to get a parking space.
There are many good restaurants within walking distance of the theater and a good Mexican restaurant in the same building. Plus a neat little piano bar in the basement that's like stepping into the past where Billy Joel may have written Piano Man.

Palm Court in Arlington Heights is a good restaurant to have dinner before the show. We thoroughly enjoyed the drinks, food and service!
I didn't check out the prices but there is a nice restaurant before you get to the theater door. We ate before we got there. As you continue to the theater there's a small bar and they have wine, and water ($3) just before you enter the theater area. It's a nice place. Plenty of restrooms. I wouldn't say it's fancy, but I wouldn't go there too dressed down.
Make sure you find the correct spot. Not all spaces are free. Signage in the parking garage as you are driving isn't not that good (signs are very small...), but they do have signs in the spaces so be sure to read that before walking away so you don't get ticketed.
The weather was cool, in the 40s.. I wore jeans, turtle neck and boots and felt a little cool..
The weather was Sunny. I wore Bring a sweater. It gets very cold when the fan goes on and I'm usually very warm!.
So many fret local restaurants and free parking! It's great to stay in the burbs! Chicago has gotten so expensive with so little options besides driving!
Go to Peggy Kinnanes across the street after the show. There's a 15% off coupon on your food bill in the playbill.
There are tons of quaint restaurants in the area. Drinks available there
We had appetizers at this new 50's restaurant in the theater called Circa 57. We sat in the 57 Chevy booth.
Parking in the structure just around the corner from the Metropolis theater is free on the 4th and 5th floors. Structure has elevators. Just start typing...
