I would say to pay for Navy Pier parking because it is convenient and they do validate. Went from being $22 to $12.60. It was worth it.

Would suggest taking public transit if possible. Parking in the Navy Pier lots is validated by the theater, but you still have to pay $14.50....and on nice days/nights, the Navy Pier lots fill up really quickly.

Validated parking cost $14.50 or so. Not too bad but not cheap.
