Lots of restaurants at different prices available on the block or very nearby. Snacks and drinks are available at the theater and attached bar.
Valet was $14. Too expensive for an hour and 30 minute show. It can be hard to find street parking because of the restaurants and theaters on that street. Even taxis have been scarce. There is a bus on Halsted, and the red line stops on North Avenue...they are options.
The weather was cool and pleasant. I wore slacks and a warm jacket, needed always because of the air conditioning on all the time..
There's a pretty good middle eastern restaurant called Dawali across the street, but it fills up pretty quickly before the show. BYOB.
Very limited bar on the theatre level. No vermouth, for instance. So no real martini or Manhattan. If you want a cocktail, get it on the first floor.
The theatre claims to be on the third floor. It's not. It's on the 4th floor by any rational measurement. Bear that in mind if you decide not to wait for the elevator - which by the way is supposed to hold only 8 people so don't crowd in, & don't let that extra person on. Really.
Cab fare from the Steppenwolf to Union Station was $9.40 when I took it.
