1,966 Segerstrom Center for the Arts, Segerstrom Hall Tips
So many restaurants nearby. Also, pay for your drinks before the show to pick up intermission.
Park behind the old Macaroni Grill across the street from TGIFriday. Free when you leave!
There are several parking structures next to the Center. We have always paid while entering before, but for some inexplicable reason we were not charged this night.
Reserve a table at Leatherby's in the Segerstrom Concert Hall, across the plaza. Fabulous food.
We saved money by parking at the South Coast Plaza Mall and crossed the street at the signal light. There are all kinds of restaurants in the area.
There are some terrific restaurants in the South Coast Shopping Center, and a short walk on the pedestrian bridge over Bristol Street is a pleasant way to settle stomach and anticipate the show at either the Performing Arts Center or the South Coast Repertory Theater. Parking at South Coast is free and avoids the post-show crush to get out of the parking structures near the theaters.
The weather was warm with a little breeze.. I wore a dress with a light sweater..
Maggianos is always great -- get there by 5:30 to give yourself time to eat and walk over.
We had dinner at the Claim Jumper across the pedestrian bridge...go early as it gets busy very quickly after 5:00 P.M.
Parking was $10
There is a fun photo-opp "chair under water" prop on the second floor lobby - that was really clever and fun!
Segerstrom's seating charts are misleading. The ticket I bought on Goldstar was supposed to be for "First Tier". It was, in fact, second tier, and far away. The auditorium itself is huge, and was only half full. Nonetheless, the management of Segerstrom chose to seat people on the sides, not the middle, and changing seats following the intermission was not encouraged.
