161 Jones Hall for the Performing Arts Tips
- Casual 2
- Dressy 1
The weather was cold and it was the 2pm show. People dressed casual..
Before the show we had lunch at the 7th District.
If parking on the big underground parking lot, take a picture of the spot where you parked so you won't get lost.
At at Jones Hall and was very good. The service was great. Had a pasta bar that you picked the ingredients and they cooked it in front of you. Also had a salad and pannini area.
If you go to Jones Hall you better get seats in the first 15 rows. Trust me !!
The weather was warm & humid.. I wore Jeans, & Sportcoat.
Uber is the only way, unless you're coming in from out of town or just really parking and walking.
If you can, park at the Theater District Parking Garage! The garage had an entrance from underground straight to Jones Hall. It was only $10 and security offered a ride on their golf cart to the entrance and to our car after the show.
I wore a nice sunday dress. Wear church clothes or something like jeans and a nice blouse, button down shirt..
Good luck trying to find a parking place on the streets. Most parking around Jones Hall is still almost non-existent, and if you see a street where you think you can park, check carefully to see if the meter station has a "hood" over it. If it does, don't risk getting a $75 parking ticket.
Parking can be a little crazy, so arrive early.
The weather was Rainy. I wore Heels. I recommend flats only because parking is quite a distance away..
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater
Try to get good seats. The mezzanine seats we ok. I just felt I would've had a better experience if I were closer.
Great for kids and nice to see so many.
The weather was nice, warm, humid.
Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo
Try to get the best seats you can afford for this location. Anything on the main floor seems to be good. It's just my experience with sitting in the upper level that people's heads always block the stage, especially for my 10 yr old son. I'm 5-3 and some times have a hard time looking around someone sitting in front of me.
Eat dinner before/after attending an event at Jones Hall. Even though they offer food, unless you arrive 60+ minutes before you will not have time to order and pleasantly have time to eat your food. Don't even think about tying to order anything but a drink during intermission, you will not have time to wait in line, order and drink a bottle of coke. Just as you take your first sip, you are chimed back in and reminded that there is no late seating.
The weather was 75 & humid, it had rained earlier in the day. I wore an above the knee black dress w/ white dots, black tights and black high heeled shoes, my son wore a suit..
use the underground parking levels which are next door and the walk way brings you to the front door of Jones Hall. $8-10 per event.
