3,191 Ahmanson Theatre Tips
Restaurants are being built and food options as well as a store are lacking at this time.
The weather was cold Friday evening. I wore Work pants with a sweater top..
The Ahmanson / Music Center complex is under construction right now and if you have to use the elevator, it's a long walk from the adjacent building. My knees are not escalator friendly, so that meant an extended walk which made my knees even more unhappy. Parking is extremely reasonable for DTLA - $9.00 - unheard of! No center row, so arrive early if your seats are in the middle of the theatre.
Get there early. Parking is a nightmare since they take the money as you enter. It does make it easier to exit, but it is slow going to park. Even though you can see lots of empty spaces as you go down, down, down, you are not allowed to enter those floors. Signage is awful in the garage.
No intermission. We use the bathrooms outside the theatre in the prefab. They are always empty compared to inside.
Parking under the Music Center is crowded so plan an additional 15 - 20 minutes for parking.
Definitely a ride share/cab or pulbic transit situation. Parking is a nightmare.
Valet parking for disabled is offered upstairs for the same $9 as underground parking. VERY CONVENIENT.
We parked t the Disney Concert Hall for a flat fee of $9.00. It was a short walk. There was no intermission in the show the night I saw it, so make sure you use the bathroom before the 1 hour and 40 minute performance starts.
There is a reasonable taco place on the complex if you are on a budfet and want a warm meal but with all of the construction there aren't many places to sit!
If at all possible (time constraints etc.), use the Metro. Way easier than trying to navigate LA traffic, parking etc.
For casual dining, the Mexican restaurant on the patio was excellent. Good food and atmosphere
Eat at the Central Market then take the Angel Flight up the hill to the theater area.
Kendall's is always good. And, they make sure to get you out in time.
