On a tight budget? Do as I did and visit the Tacos Arizas taco truck on your way there or home. It's about 2 miles west of the Ahmanson on Logan, just north of Sunset in Echo Park. Delicious carnitas, pastor and asada. Ask for radishes and carrots if you like them as they no longer have them out for customers to grab their own, but they'll give them to you if you ask.
Metro Red Line train stop at Civic Center station makes Music Center visits so easy.
Eat at Border Grill, $5 parking nad they will free shuttle you to and from Ahmanson. Church and State, free parking and an quick $5 Uber to Music Center.
Good (but not cheap) restaurants in Music Center; Disney Hall Cafe across the street.
Parking entance on Grand. $9. Park at north end and escalator will take you right to theater doors.
Get there early to not be rushed to get a parking space ... these shows are selling-out, and three shows in one center makes parking a bit tight. Traffic around the center is near-standstill since the major fire near the theater less than 10 days ago.
Try the Artisan House. New to me and VERY tasty menu. Excellent service. I even walked from it (at 6th & Main) to the Ahmanson!
Ate at the Pinot Grill. Food was good, but very small portions and overpriced.
Good restaurant in Music Center Plaza; good cafeteria in Disney Hall; other restaurants a block away in California Plaza.
Show was great. The only problem I had was hearing! We sat in the mezzanine and I wasn't able to hear Cicely Tyson at all! During intermission I went downstairs and was able to get earphones which helped me tremendously for the second act!
