794 Geffen Playhouse - Gil Cates Theater Tips
Parking was only $4 at the Palazzo parking lot. Just ask for a validation ticket at the Geffen box office. Lots of places to eat in Westwood Village. The theatre patio is extremely pleasant and relaxing prior to the start of the play.
Ate a restaurant in Brentwood called Pizzicotto - Great neighborhood Italian restaurant

Parking: The free parking at the Westwood public structure (paid for by the Geffen) is a real hassle when everyone leaves at once. We pay $5.50 for a lot a block away from the theater and are home in bed by the time the last person straggles out of that slow garage line.

If you park in the public structure next to Trader Joes, the Geffen will validate.
Get there early and street parking is available. Otherwise, parking is a long walk around the block at Trader Joe's.
Geffen is a lovely, intimate venue, where every seat is a good one.
If you get there at 6:00, there is street parking (parking meter) which is a lot more reasonable than the parking lots.
or, add your own... If you arrive within 2 hours of 8:00 p.m. and are lucky enough to get an available parking space on the street at a meter it will cost you $2.00 ($1.00) per hour) which is very reasonable compared to parking lot expense.
If you are lucky, you may be able to park at the parking meters across the street. Free after 8pm, $0.25 each 15 minutes
The Geffen has a beautiful courtyard in it's historic 1929 building so I recommend getting there a little early to enjoy it.
I'm always able to find street parking towards Hilgard and pay about 50 cents as the meters stop being valid after 8 p.m. so for a weeknight show you can get parking for 25-50 cents.
parking right next door is ideal and reasonable $7 for our night at the Geffen. pay parking machines on the "A" lobby levelwere temperamental and the attendant helped a lot. Two cars had trouble using their ticket to open the gates out of the parking lot.. but finally all of us got out.
Poolside dining the W Hotel's Backyard restaurant. Happy Hour items if you order by 7:00 and a5-minute wall to the theater afterwards!
I expected parking to be an issue, it is Westwood after all, but there was a lot right next door and the fee was reasonable at $7.00.
Ate at CPK a couple of blocks away.
We lucked out and got the only handicapped parking right in front of the theater. The parking garage has handicapped parking but one needs to take an elevator and walk around the block to get to the theater.
Napa Valley Grille has a happy hour where dining before the theatre can be a short walk away, fun and not too expensive.
