A lovely way to start a Sunday in NY. Recommend walking to the Ruben Museum on 17th Street after this venue..another great place for culture.

The weather was cold/windy. I wore upscale casual attire for a day in the city..

Pongsri is a reasonably priced Thai restaurant around the corner from the Metropolitan Room.

Accessibility info: Entry on street level, no steps and no ramps into the seating area, wheelchairs would have to call first because of narrow aisles, but I bet they would accommodate you; many were there with canes, albeit pretty ones, and were fine. However, the coat room is down a flight of steps and I am not sure if the bathroom may be there too. Check if that is a concern. I found them helpful when I called about my companion, who cannot do stairs.

2-drink minimum per person, and food does not count towards that. Drinks stated at Starbucks coffee for $6 and others $12 and up.

This venue is a small jewel box of a room, long and narrow, which seems to assure great sightlines from every seat. Dressed for work, which was where I was coming from, and most men were in suits, women a bit more dressed than I was. There was a snafu with my Goldstar Voucher, and we were all informed that they were sold out (read: oversold) and Goldstar members (and from what I could easily see, Groupon and other vouchers as well) were being waitlisted. I am not sure how many of us eventually were seated, but I was glad to be one, and was only 4 seats from the stage. Baby Jane Dexter came in, touching everyone's shoulders as she did, and did a great set of blues, rock, and standards interpreted in deeply emotional and moving ways. And she was just plain fun....funny and real and connected with the music, her wonderful pianist Ian, and us, her entranced audience. It was great, and I already made plans to go back. (I asked the management if that snafu was a regular occurrence and was assured it was a one-time event. I hope that was true.) As far as the location, there is a parking garage on the block, and you can park on the street from 6-10 pm on weeknights for free. The rest of the time, unless it is Sunday, I think the garage is the best bet. The management has a sign up warning patrons about towing/ticketing at other times.
