check out other parking venues in the neighborhood and prices before you get there just in case they can't accommodate you. Sometimes Central Parking or other places have coupons you can print out ahead and use.

Have your kids each take there own small back pack and bring a water bottle and or juice box and some small snack like crackers, granola bars, raisins. the food is very pricey. We got 2 pretzels , a refillable popcorn, 8 drinks and 1 slice of plain pound cake, and it was almost $35.00 !!

Arrive as close to open as possible. Review all timed events so you can plan to hit all accordingly. We arrived at 9:30, did Pompeii at 10, Ice Age Movie at 11:15, Lunch, Planetarium at 12:45pm, Observatory before 3pm closing then worked our way down again until just before the museum closed at 5pm. We were thankful our car was in the lot of the same building. We were TIRED!

You can pack your own food if you like and wear a back pack. We brought 1 bottle of water 1 soda and three granola bars to hold us over until lunch. We ate in the Franklin Works Cafe. GOOD food! Worth the price. 2 adults, 1 child - $35 and we were full! Had two cheesesteaks with fries and a drink and added on the chicken fingers and fries for the child. Full the rest of the day.

Be prepared to pay 20 to 25 dollars if you are spending most of the day at the institute if you park in the Museum's parking lot. Well worth it if you have kids and it's too cold to walk from another parking lot!

The weather was dry and sunny but cold. I wore jeans, sneakers (a must) and a sweatshirt. I looked presentable, not sloppy..

The weather was ridiculously cold. I wore a coat that I left in the car if you park underground close to the elevator..

The museum garage appears to have only one level. That is because there are no signs telling you to drive down the ramps toward the exit to find lower levels. If you are only going to see the exhibit, street parking is possible in weekdays and less expensive.

We could not find the official parking area. We had to walk six blocks.
