Walk a block down to try the "street food"Fisherman's Wharf
Quick (and beautiful) walk or bus ride on the F train from Embarcadero BART.
Go to Scoma's on Fishermen's Wharf for terrific seafood.
Parking was 8$ per hr which was pricey.
Make sure to bring cash so the kids can ride the merry-go-round at the end of Pier39
