Avoid the queues for the cable car and take the F line tram which goes from Castro all the way down Market and them along Embarcadero to Pier 39. Same in reverse. $2.25 each way. Have exact fare ready.

I tipped $5 total for two white wines. It was cheap wine out of paper cups after all. (It's obviously a safety thing).

After the sail, if you enjoy the tourist scene Pier 39 offers many, although mediocre food choices. You're better off walking a few blocks or taking a cab to North Beach-Cafe Sport is amazing as are many local restaurants.

Parking at Pier 39 lot for the trip is about $27- $9 per hour. There is parking further away for less but this is so convenient.

The weather was very windy on the choppy waters. I wore a tee shirt, a sweatshirt a jacket and a scarf. I would also recommend you wear/take gloves. Also this is not a place to try and be high heel friendly. You are on a boat, the choppy seas, wear comfortable sneakers or riding boots as I did. Waterproof and kept my feet warm. They did have extra blankets aboard in the event you needed it.
