About War Memorial Opera House
The War Memorial Opera House is part of the San Francisco War Memorial and Performing Arts Center. It has been the home of the San Francisco Opera since opening night in 1932 and it’s the current home of the San Francisco Ballet. Located across from City Hall, the building is one of the last Beaux-Arts structures erected in the United States. In addition to opera and ballet performances, the 3146-seat auditorium hosts special presentations, lectures and concerts and even hosted the first conference of the United Nations in 1945.
The War Memorial Opera House is one of the Bay Area’s most sought-after and unique venues, offering modern technology and the ambience of Old World theater.
Everyone, regardless of age, must have a ticket to enter. Taking photographs and the use of recording equipment are strictly prohibited. Unless specified, late seating will not be permitted. Ticket prices include a small credit card fee.
