pay for parking. free parking on the street is hard to find, and your don't want to be walking around downtown late at night. scary people.

Parking lot directly across the street from the club. Sign says $5 in big letters and "per hour" in small letters; $15 bucks for the show. Very convenient. Lots of happy drunk pedestrians on the street at 10:00 pm.
Food has really improved at the Improv. Go ahead, have dinner there.
Dinner is one hour before show, equal to a good bar. Food well done. With a Martini and beer, cost for two was $50.

There's a two-drink or one order minimum per person. We ate nearby and ordered drinks, 4 drinks for the two of us, totalling around $35 for the cost of beverages.
There is a lot directly across the street from the theater on 2nd. Also one below the Knight Ridder building on San Fernando that is a quick walk, but a little expensive.
The weather was freezing and windy in downtown San Jose. . I wore jeans, boots, sweater and scarf (and my Stella & Dot bag, of course!).
Get to the Improv early as drinks and food can take a while to get to you.
