Before you secure your tickets, check and see if the Washington Capitals are playing at home. If they are, use Parking Panda for parking and make advance reservations at a local restaurant.
Take Metro to Archives and walk up 7th St. This is easier than the confusion at Gallery Place.
I wore Good shoes, jacket, slacks. most people were in business attire. No tourists..
Take metro to Archives which is less confusing than Chinatown station
We ate at home but there are lots of options right around the Lansburgh and within a couple of blocks.
We parked in the lot on D St., between 8th & 9th. A bit of a walk but cost only $7 when you show your Lansburgh ticket. This was much better than Parking Panda offered.
The weather was nice, sunny and warm. I wore casual slacks and a top but take a sweater or jacket, too. The theatre is chilly..

Cedar restaurant, a block away, has a great 3 course pre-theatre meal - and I was told it can be split, with dessert after the play, if the play ends early enough.
Too many of the parking garages around the theater close at 11:00 pm. It creates a lot of stress when the play is scheduled to run until 10:45.
Jaleo's is wonderful for outstanding tapas. The pre-theater menu offers more than enough for dinner before the show and the choices are excellent.
Found a garage a block away for $7.00. Just had to show my ticket stub.
