Take a jacket, it's colder on the water. We used the Smithsonian station metro stop and walked to the marina, but you may want to consider a taxi.

Plan to arrive much earlier than 15 minutes mandated by the cruise. Parking is scarce. Traffic is terrible (one lane of Maine avenue was being used for parking even though it is a "no parking" zone. Took 45 min to go 1/2 mile to a parking garage.
