157 Washington Stage Guild at the Undercroft Theatre Tips
- Casual 1
- Street parking only 1
Even though you won't find anything right next door to the performance space, there are lots of eateries within two to three blocks walking distance. If you go south on 9th Street you'll find the Tap House and Dolcezza coffee.
Bring quarters to park along side of the Undercroft Theater.
Many great dining locations nearby, so make an evening of it in the Mount Vernon/Penn Quarter neighborhood.
Within walking distance, Corduroy serves interesting, good, elegant food.
Take metro if you can. If you drive, sometimes street parking on the weekends. If you don't readily find a space, try the new garage at City Center (entrances on both 9th and 11th streets). Plenty of spaces and reasonable.
We went to Baby Wale, which is just 2 blocks from the theater. It is new, has an interesting menu and is moderately priced. Our waiter, Boris, was very solicitous.
Back to Methuselah: In the Beginning & The Gospel of the Brothers Barnabas
If going to a Sunday matinee, leave 15 mins. to find parking. Weekday evenings are easier to find parking.
Recommend Arcadia for dinner ($$$) - it's just around the corner at 9th & New York Ave. Parking is crazy. We found a spot on 10th, there are parking lots, but check what's happening at the convention center and plan travel/parking time accordingly.
The Old Masters
We had a very good dinner beforehand at Acadiana on K and 9th Streets, where valet parking was only $7 (and there were a few open meters available on K as well).
