American Mavericks was a groundbreaking 13-part Peabody Award-winning radio series and now a website containing interviews and interactive features produced in association with the San Francisco Symphony. Now, as part of the American Mavericks Festival, audiences can hear intriguing chamber works from the composers whose music will shape the next 100 years in a special chamber music concert featuring members of the San Francisco Symphony and vocalist Joan La Barbara. The program includes Henry Cowell's Selections for Solo Piano, Terry Riley's Songs for String Quartet, the world premiere of Morton Subotnick's Jacob's Room: Monodrama (commissioned by the San Francisco Symphony) and several works by Harry Partch.
