Direct from Spain, the 2012 Flamenco Festival comes to Washington, D.C.'s GW Lisner Auditorium for a week of energetic dance performances. Closing the festival is Seville's Rafaela Carrasco, a breathtaking dancer and one of the most important flamenco choreographers of the younger generation. Boundlessly exploring new concepts while maintaining the essence and integrity of true flamenco, Carrasco presents Vamos al Tiroteo. Set to a selection of popular Spanish songs originally recorded by Federico García Lorca with the flamenco star La Argentinita on vocals in 1931, the work brings new life and energy to the music that inspired a generation of influential artists.
